How to do the Gathered Top on a Slouch Hat
Once you have your crochet slouch hat completed to the measurements you want, it is necessary to close the top. There are several ways to do this, my favorite though is to use a gathered top method that creates a design that mimics the petals of a flower. To do this, follow the instructions below (images are in order in the grid following the written pattern for a better visual of the process) :
Turn your hat wrong side out and place the seam in the middle.
Using a tapestry needle and the tail left after you have fastened off the hat, thread the yarn through the sides of the hat like in the following photos. Continue working until the hat is completely closed. Fasten off and tie the ends securely. Weave in the remaining tail and turn the hat right side out. You are now ready to block your hat and wear it once it is dry!
